My work explores the diversity and complexity of the natural world through vibrant and impressive images. The characterizations of cows focuses primarily oncapturing the individuality, charm and serenity of these gentle and earthy creatures. Human life is highly dependent on cows from food sources to furniture and footwear. Mass farming has made these animals a cog in the wheel of human need.Cows are manufactured by humans with little regard. They are often mistakenly labeled as vacuous and slow...hence " Bovine"
When we consider the Indian cows we can see that they have been given holy status and treated with reverence. Cows are integrally woven into Indian economy and society. They are respected for the wealth they provide through the giving of their milk and labour and not abused by mass consumerism. Indian religions teach that animal life is sacred so that no animal is to be killed for food if you can find something else to eat. Thus cows are not killed for food but are instead used for work.
My paintings endeavor to portray the worthiness of these animals and depict their details with depth, sensitivity and humour. By producing life-like, animated images I am attempting to give these passive creatures a voice and a place in a society where they are all too often disregarded.
